Makeup and I have been uneasy acquaintances since I was a tween. I remember receiving a miniature makeup vanity one year for Christmas. Now, this vanity was definitely more for playing dress-up than actually getting your look on fleek, but I should have known then that it was the beginning of a long, difficult relationship with makeup. I was immediately drawn to the purple and blue sparkly eyeshadows, and would apply them way up onto my brow bones. My friends (who were as makeup illiterate as me) thought it looked amazing. In reality, I looked like an overgrown contestant from Toddlers and Tiaras, and it was not pretty.
