It’s always a little intimidating when you see the work that your favourite make up artist and beauty bloggers are putting out there, but if you don’t fancy yourself a pro then you can always try these easy, fool-proof tips for applying eyeshadow. Using only one shade you can achieve a professional looking wink that’ll get you through a casual day or a fancy shin-dig.
The thing about eyeshadow is that it can take a lot of blending time to make your looks look beautiful and not scary. While intricate layers of colours look fab on Instagram, it might not be so easy to replicate when you’re in a hurry and need to look good for a night out. Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Eye Shadows were all the rage at Toronto Fashion Week and it’s easy to see why. The talented make up artists were making it look so easy and we can all rejoice because it’s because it really is that easy!
Start your look with a long-lasting shadow primer like Urban Decay’s Primer Potion and spread the product evenly all over your lids. Then, take your favourite bold but dark shade of the Tattoo shadows and using the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush, pat the colour on to the main part of your lid ( I used the shade Electric Blue). Be sure to stop where your crease naturally lies when you open your eyes.
Once you’re done applying the product on to the lid it’s time to smooth out the hard lines. Taking your Deluxe Crease Brush, gently buff the shadow upwards and outwards (not going on to the brow bone) to completely blend out the edges of the shadow.
Buffing the brush in small, circular movements will make the eye shadow look like it’s been blended out with a smoky shade and make it appear like you’ve used more than one colour.
Once you’re done blending you can always pat on a little more colour in the centre of the lid to really make the shade pop!
